I love this story….mainly because the guy didn’t die….otherwise this would be a tragic story.
A 35 year old man was wearing a Gorilla suit at the Loro Parque Zoo during an animal escape drill….apparently, the suit was so believable that one of the veterinarians who had not been made aware of the drill….armed with a tranquilizer gun thought he was a real gorilla and shot the man in the leg!
The dart was intended to take down a 400 pound gorilla and took down this man like a sack of potatoes. The man was found in his underwear and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
He survived and the Zoo released this statement:
“One keeper in the wild mammals team was accidentally struck by the medical tranquilizer that vets use in these instances…He recovered and is now in good health.
“Loro Parque, like all zoos and animal parks, regularly carries out this kind of emergency drill. The measure is designed to improve security, emergency procedures, and to train staff who work in these enclosures.”
